At GCUC London, NCG’s CEO Tom Proctor caught up with Gerry Villiers, General Manager and Marketing Lead at BLOCK Workspace, to discuss demand, expansion and adapting to rapid growth.
For Gerry, the value of GCUC starts with bringing the flex community together.
“There’s a sense of belonging. There’s a sense of multiple businesses coming together, and we’re all building something incredible.”
That sense of community also runs through her account of BLOCK’s growth, as the operator expands into new locations and welcomes more members.
Responding to demand in Bristol
Reflecting on her two years in the industry, Gerry described a market that continues to change quickly.
In Bristol, where she is based, strong demand for both office space and coworking has prompted BLOCK to plan a second building in the city.
For the team, that growth has brought opportunities alongside the practical demands of adapting quickly. Gerry described a business comfortable with moving at pace, with its people working together to get new sites launched.
Taking BLOCK into new regions
Originally rooted in the South West, BLOCK has been extending its reach across the UK.
At the time of the interview, Gerry shared that the business had opened a site in Birmingham, with Manchester set to follow. Multiple openings over the preceding year reflected the team’s determination to keep moving forwards.
Each location brings another opportunity to build the BLOCK community. As Gerry explained, launching new sites takes hard work, but seeing that community grow makes the effort worthwhile.
Supporting the journey
NCG has been supporting BLOCK through this period of expansion. Reflecting on the partnership, Gerry described working together as “a very smooth process” and expressed confidence in the future.
For NCG, it is a pleasure to support a team with such clear ambition for its spaces and the people who use them.
